First US Community Credit Union

Credit unions are financial cooperatives that offer savings options, loan solutions and home financing expertise to communities throughout California. Their products include saving and checking accounts, loans, investments, insurance, debit cards and online banking services – just to name a few!

First US Community Credit Union responded swiftly to this member’s financial difficulties by stopping repossession proceedings and offering multiple payment plans. Furthermore, First US Community notified this member’s employer to allow additional payments if possible.

This member’s account fell past due during February and ultimately entered repossession status. To address their situation, the Credit Union made contact with this member via letters and multiple phone calls; during which opportunities to make in-person payments or set up automatic ACH debits were presented at various stages in delinquency cycle but they declined these offers as well as attempts by them Credit Union at setting up a skip-a-payment program were denied by them.

At this point, the member informed the credit union of their purchase from a dealership and were working out financing terms with their finance department. Eventually, the Credit Union assumed the debt and was informed of both purchase agreement and financing contract negotiated between this dealership and this member; once this happened, we began monitoring his/her account for payment activity and insurance coverage purposes.

As the member’s insurance was not regularly monitored, the Credit Union purchased one on his/her behalf from 5/30/20-7/8/20 at the cost of $900 which was added to their loan balance and payment was adjusted accordingly. Subsequently, numerous efforts have been taken by this member and by us in communicating the need to provide verifiable information that assists us with verifying his/her insurance.
