Concordia Plans – LCMS Retirement, Health, Disability, and Ministry Admin Solutions

Concordia Plans is a full-service benefits administrator dedicated to serving LCMS ministries and workers so that God’s word may spread further. We offer retirement, health, disability, survivor and ministry admin solutions to over 170 organizations within LCMS worldwide.

Concordia Plans understands the difficulties LCMS ministries have in offering an attractive retirement benefit package to their employees, especially given today’s economic climate and regulatory changes that have made traditional pensions harder for many employers to offer, forcing workers to assume investment risk themselves and fund their own retirements. To assist, Concordia offers an alternative solution by managing an LCMS Retirement Savings Plan (CRSP) 403(b).

CRSPs allow workers to save on either a pre-tax or Roth after-tax basis. Money saved is withheld from each paycheck by an LCMS employer and sent directly to 90 Degree Benefits who consolidates and forward it onto Fidelity who manage the CRSP account. Furthermore, due to lower fund expense fees than typically charged by other retail investment companies more money in a CRSP can be invested towards future retirement income.

All employees associated with LCMS are automatically enrolled in our Contributory Retirement Savings Plan and have the option to participate. Contributors can access our online CRSP portal or download and complete an Enrollment Form located under Forms on this page.

The health insurance program at LCMS offers an extensive array of coverage options with variable deductible and out-of-pocket limits, as well as access to an extensive network of hospitals and providers, wellness programs, and financial peace-of-mind should someone become disabled due to illness or injury; or if one of their family members passes away.

LCMS Disability and Survivor Plan benefits are designed to cover expenses not covered by social security, Medicare or the pension benefit. To be eligible for disability payments, an LCMS worker must be permanently or partially disabled and unable to perform their regular job duties at work. Concordia Plans works closely with Lincoln Financial to administer this plan and issue disability checks and manage tax withholding/reporting on most disabled workers’ behalf.
